Letting Go

Letting go is one of the most powerful  ways to transform our lives and move into a higher vibration (closer to the Ultimate Being).  By letting go, we actually gain more meaning, happiness, and abundance in our lives.  Holding onto fears, insecurities, control, resentments, poverty consciousness, and so forth, we are actually preventing ourselves from moving forward in life.  This is one of the ultimate illusions of living on earth.  We believe that by holding onto these emotions and things, we have greater power - more control over our lives.  In actuality, by letting go of these aspects of our lower self, we gain far more than we can ever imagine.

Letting go is an internal process and does not need to be difficult or take a long time.  The first step is the willingness to look within ourselves and discover where and what we allow to stand in our way.  Do we hold someone at arms distance because they hurt us in some way?  Often we believe we are better off to hold onto this hurt to protect ourselves from say future hurt, but in reality, we are really harming ourselves by doing so.  You see, we are holding the resentment inside and resentment is a lower emotion.

Lower emotions are things such as anger, envy, resentment, hate, unworthiness, jealousy, fear, doubt, and insecurity.  Our souls want us to live in love, faith and trust, and abundance.  We can each develop these qualities in every aspect of our lives if we are willing to do the work to release the negativity and see through the illusions.

By holding onto negative emotions such as those described above, we are creating disharmony within our bodies and if not released can create dis-ease within us.  So how do you let go or release the negativity holding you back from living the best life?  One step at a time.  We are going to talk about this over the next few weeks.

Letting go has nothing to do with rearranging our external environment (such as leaving a job or avoiding the person who hurt us);  instead letting go is really something we do within ourselves and is a very natural process of life.  Nature is a wonderful example of letting go.  Trees release unneeded fruit which falls to the ground.  On the ground, it is no longer part of the tree, it has let that part of itself go and trusts that God will make the best use of it from there.  The seeds are then spread by the elements or animals and some of those seeds grow into a new life.  Those seeds that die were no longer needed.

It is the same with us.  By letting go of the negativity, and trusting the best will come of it, a shift begins taking place in our lives and blessings we never dreamed of, come into being.  By letting go, we have more room for greater abundance in our lives.

MEDITATION:

Meditate or pray this week about what you are holding within yourself that may be holding you back.

EXERCISE:

Take some time each day, if possible, to do some freefall writing in a journal.  Write about the hurts, feelings and other aspects of your life that have an effect on your life.  Just let the words flow without censoring them.  Try to keep writing, even if that means nonsense words come out.  That's okay!  In doing so, you can often get deeper within yourself and make some profound discoveries.

By the end of the week, you should have a list of some aspects about yourself that it is time to let go of.  Don't concern yourself if you are initially afraid of what you think that will mean.  We will work on that next week.  The idea is to let go of one at a time.
