Words are Your Jewels

Last week, we spoke a little about thoughts and one way you can start to monitor them.  Thoughts are very powerful and although we are chattering to ourselves all day, we often do not realize what we are saying to ourselves.  However, these thoughts have a huge impact on our internal and external worlds.  The thoughts we have every moment of the day determine the outcome of our lives.  Sound ridiculous?

Did you know that we are the creator of our own lives?  We have the ability to create the kind of life we really desire?  Everyone has this ability - everyone.  We create that life with our thoughts and choices.  What happens is the result of those two components.  Yes, there can be other things involved, such as faith or the courage to act on an opportunity available to you; however, it all begins with thought and choice.

If you feel stuck where you are or in a part of your life, the last several meditations are the steps to creating a better life:  identifying internal beliefs, learning about yourself, and letting go.  Another key component is not only watching the words we think, but those we say out loud.

Let us say that you have determined that you want a better job.  You have identified any beliefs holding you back from reaching that goal and let them go, carefully monitoring your thoughts about the possibility of getting that new job.  But, when you speak to your family and friends, you say to them, "If I get that job, I am going to buy a home theatre system."  You are planting doubt in your mind that it will happen.  When you sow doubt, nothing grows but doubt and you have a nearly impossible time creating what you desire.  Instead, if you were to say, "When I get that job, ..." you are planting a seed that will grow success and with it your dreams.

Words to watch our for are:  if, could, I hope, sort of, I don't know, but, I wish, because of, it's hard, maybe, I might, however, attempt to, possibly, almost, perhaps, whatever, then what, stopped, probably, never, at least, I should (not), would (not), although, even though, I can't, I doubt, I didn't, I'll try, kind of, I won't, or isn't it.

Words that create a limited result:  only, in order to, always, I've got to, can't you, absolutely, never, I have to, It's hard to, whenever, shouldn't you, I must, when I, let me, or forever.

Words that create positive, unlimited results:  I can, I am, I will, I support, I agree, I choose, I accept, I love, I respect, I acknowledge, I have, I enjoy, I create, and I desire.

Can you see or feel the difference between these words?  When speaking of that goal you want to accomplish, use the words that support unlimited results.  Speak about it as if it has already happened, in the present sense.  By doing so, you will create the life you want faster and better than even you imagined it could be.  You can chose to use your words for you or against you.  What is your choice?

SAYING:

By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

---unknown

EXERCISE:

Using last week's exercise of Stop, Look, Listen, start creating new possibilities for yourself by replacing the old thoughts with new ones.  When you catch yourself saying (externally or internally) something negative or limiting, change the words.

For example, you notice yourself saying:

"I never get any recognition for the hard work I do."

say,

"I choose to do my work well.  I enjoy the recognition I receive and acknowledge others for their contributions.
