Fear

Fear is one of humanities greatest enemies.  It keeps us from growing and living our life to the fullest.  There are many things that we fear.  The most common fear is of change.  Anything that brings change into our world is often greeted with skepticism or anxiety, yet often these changes are exactly what we need to live fuller, richer lives.

There is an irony about change we tend to forget in the moment.  Hidden within change is a jewel.  The jewel is a lesson learned, greater appreciation, understanding, knowledge needed for something yet to come, or any number of things.  When you look back on the changes in your life, can see the good that came from it, whether it was immediate or beneficial some years later?  This is the jewel.

When we resist this natural process, a larger and seemingly more problematic problem results.  The change required is larger than before.  Instead of stepping over a stream, we are forced to look at a leap across a river.  If we chose not to go with the flow the second time, we will eventually be faced with leaping over a lake.  It is your choice which you prefer to jump.

The reason we often do not chose to step across the stream is because of our fear(s).  We think about the possible problems and people we may have to face instead of keeping our hearts and mind open to the jewel we will discover on the other side.  To overcome our fears, we must face them head on.  We can help with facing our own fears by making a game of it.  If we remember that what we fear is not who we are, but our false self, we can change our mental attitude.

SAYING:

F.E.A.R. = False Evidence Appearing Real

Concentrate on where you want to go, not on what you fear.

-- Anthony Robbins
