Conscious Relationship

The word "relationship" is conventionally thought to refer to a person’s romantic, intimate interaction with one (or more) "significant others". However, all of life can usefully be seen as a variety of interpenetrating relationships.

Your many relationships; with spouses, parents and children, with business clients and co-workers, with the friends and strangers you interact with everyday... all these are the subject of the exercises this class presents. The class goes beyond the more conventional approaches to "working out the problems" of relationship, and leads the student, through an investigation of their present relationships, to penetrate beneath their superficial, public identity and explore their underlying being.

The endless, fearful struggle to maintain a solid, separate identity reduces our relationships to transactions where, at best, we hope for a momentary 'win', but the fear of loss is our constant, threatening companion. As you come to a deeper understanding of yourself and a fuller appreciation of what it really means to be in relationship, you will release fear, improve communication, resolve conflicts, become more confident and forgiving... in short, become more fully engaged in a joyful relationship with life.

Peter and Helen Evans will facilitate this four-week intensive workshop with practical applications for all aspects of your life. We will use a variety of source material including the book, "Embracing the Beloved" by Stephen and Ondrea Levine. Class reading material, including experiential exercises, will be received as numbered e-mail posts on Tuesdays and Fridays, to allow time for study, assimilation and practice. Best of all, you can get responses from the facilitators about your particular concerns. To ensure your privacy, questions will be moderated by the facilitators, and responses will be posted on those days.
